Adventures
Adventure has been at the heart of Darren’s recovery. Since sustaining the life-changing injury that left him paralysed from the chest down, he has focussed his recovery by taking on new and ambitious challenges – whether that be learning to kayak and then leading a team of injured veterans in a record-breaking attempt to kayak 1,400 kilometres from Land’s End to John O’ Groats, becoming the first person with a disability to complete the iconic World Marathon Challenge (7 marathons in 7 days across 7 continents, or leading a small team across Antarctica in a ground-breaking and daring expedition to reach the South Pole by sit-ski.
Each of his adventures has tested the limits of his resilience and mental toughness, as well as the physical limitations of his Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) – teaching him invaluable lessons about overcoming adversity, pursuing ambitious goals, and leading with authenticity and strength, insights he now shares with audiences in his role of a Keynote Speaker. With determination, grit, and an unwavering commitment to expanding his horizons, Darren will continue to embrace challenges and risk failure in order to achieve his true potential. His unique lived-experience has helped to further develop his understanding of how we overcome adversity and adapt to a changing world.
